Mrs. Ralph STEWART, widow of Rev. Ralph Erskine Stewart was buried this morning at Portland Mills cemetery. Mr. Stewart, who was pastor of the Seceder Presbyterian Church near Portland Mills lived in the house now burned on South Cross Street. He died in 1900 and the family removed to El Paso, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stewart made a trip East last week and while away the mother, who had been making her home with them, died at the age of 80. They were in Waveland on Monday for the first time in 38 years. The Stewarts moved here from Delphi, where the elder Mr. Stewart was a warm personal friend of the late Charles Landis. It so happened that Mr. Landis, was a candidate for congress was dated here for a speech and was to have been a guest in the Stewart home just at the time Mr. Stewart unexpectedly died. -- kbz
